Kenmore Plantation & Gardens is the Georgian-style mansion that was constructed for George Washington's only sister, Betty. Her husband Fielding Lewis was a wealthy planter and financed the creation of arms and vessels for the Virginia navy during the Revolutionary War. These expenditures were costly, and he eventually sold Kenmore to liquidate his debts. Kenmore is being restored to it's colonial magnificance, and the tours here focus greatly on the home's architectural significance. The gardens are also open for visitors to peruse, and these are maintained according to their original plans. Address: 1201 Washington Ave Fredericksburg VA USA
